🎉 Avoyelles Parish Schools Achieve New Heights in 2024-2025! 📈

Avoyelles Parish Schools is proud to announce the release of the Louisiana Department of Education’s 2024–2025 School and District Performance Scores, which reflect continued improvement across multiple campuses and steady progress at the district level.

District Performance: Continued Upward Momentum

For the second consecutive year, Avoyelles Parish earned a “B” rating, increasing its overall District Performance Score (DPS) to 81.6, up from 79.1 in 2023–2024, an overall gain of 2.5 points. This year’s DPS is also higher than the 2025 Louisiana statewide average of 80.9, placing the district above the state’s overall performance level.

Avoyelles Parish was also recognized as the 9th fastest-growing school system in Louisiana, reflecting strong district-wide improvement compared to other parishes across the state.

The district demonstrated notable improvement in several key areas, including:

  • K–8 & High School Progress Index
    Increased from 82.1 last year to 84.0 this year, reflecting stronger growth among students across grade levels.
  • Graduation Rate Index
    Strength of Diploma/Graduation Index rose from 106.5 to 126.5, showing substantial improvement in on-time graduation.
  • Cohort Graduation Rate
    Actual graduation rate increased from 91.3% to 95.3%, marking a continued upward trend for the district.

These improvements demonstrate the district’s ongoing commitment to academic growth, student support, and strengthening college and career-readiness pathways.

School-Level Highlights: Growth Across Campuses

Avoyelles Parish’s schools posted encouraging results, with several showing year-to-year increases in School Performance Scores (SPS) and corresponding letter grades for 2024–2025.

Key areas of improvement include:

  • Bunkie Magnet High School - SPS increased from 91.7 to 101.2, a remarkable improvement of +9.5 points, which maintains their A letter grade.
  • Riverside Elementary - Increased from 71.5 to 75.4 points, improving by +3.9 points, moving them to a B-rated school.
  • Cottonport Elementary - SPS moved from 44.4 to 57.4, showing significant growth, improving to the D range, an improvement of +13 points, and the strongest gain in the district. The Louisiana Department of Education recognized Cottonport as the #2 most improved K–8 school in the entire state, an extraordinary achievement and a clear sign of accelerated growth.

Several campuses earned special distinctions from the Louisiana Department of Education, including Top Gains and Opportunity Honoree awards. These recognitions highlight schools that demonstrated exceptional student progress and equitable access to learning opportunities.
