Avoyelles Parish to Host “Alphonse Funeral Fundraiser” — A Celebration of a Local Legend
Tuesday, October 28 • 6 p.m. • Broken Wheel Brewery, Marksville: Alphonse Funeral Fundraiser

Tuesday, October 28 • 6 p.m. • Broken Wheel Brewery, Marksville

Avoyelles Parish will come together to bid a fond — and slightly suspicious — farewell to one of its most colorful characters, Alphonse, the paper-bag-wearing commentator who entertained locals for the past 50 years with his sharp Cajun wit, fearless opinions, and humor that gave the parish something to laugh about, argue over, and sometimes blush at.

Known for his iconic paper bag and biting commentary, Alphonse will be remembered in a way only fitting for such a character — a “funeral” and fundraiser complete with storytelling, laughter, and maybe even a little fire. Rumor has it that the famous paper bag might meet its final resting place in the Broken Wheel Brewery fireplace before the night is through.
