Governor Jeff Landry Visits Avoyelles Parish
Avoyelles Parish received a high-profile visit this week as Governor Jeff Landry made a few stops throughout the parish before speaking at State Representative Daryl Deshotel’s annual pig roast fundraiser at Lake Pearl. The governor arrived by helicopter in Hessmer early in the afternoon, where he was greeted by local supporters and community leaders.
From there, Governor Landry traveled to Pookie’s in Mansura to browse the well-known gun selection and talk politics with the owner. His next stop was Juneau’s in Marksville, where he sampled boudin and cracklings, visited with customers, and even purchased a turkey for a woman who was standing in line checking out.
The governor wrapped up his tour of the parish at Lake Pearl for Representative Deshotel’s pig roast. The event drew a large crowd. Governor Landry spoke about the significant state funding delivered to Avoyelles Parish, including money for road and bridge improvements and the major new education facility that is now underway.
Also speaking at the event were Speaker of the House Phillip DeVillier and State Representative Julie Emerson. Their attendance underscored the strong working relationship between the governor’s office and legislative leadership.
Governor Landry’s visit and participation in Rep. Deshotel’s fundraiser highlighted his support for the people of Avoyelles Parish and for the local officials who represent them. The evening closed with live music, fellowship, and plenty of roast pig as supporters celebrated ongoing progress in the parish.
