Body Found in Bayou on Tunica-Biloxi Reservation in Marksville

MARKSVILLE, La. — Law enforcement officials have confirmed that a body was discovered in a bayou near Highway 1 within the Tunica-Biloxi Reservation in Marksville earlier today.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Tunica-Biloxi Tribal Police Department.

Chief of Police Harold Pierite released the following statement regarding the discovery:

“Earlier this morning, Tunica-Biloxi Tribal Police were called to the area of Coulee des Grues following the discovery of a deceased individual. The individual is not a member of the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe.

Officials are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the death, and we ask tribal citizens and others to avoid the area. Our prayers are with the individual’s family during this difficult time.
