State Police called in to investigate APSO-involved shooting incident

State Police have been called in to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred in Hessmer Friday evening.
Avoyelles Sheriff David Dauzat said deputies responded to a 911 call in Hessmer, during which shots were exchanged between a male subject and a deputy. The subject was taken to a hospital by ambulance. No law enforcement officers were injured, Dauzat said.
Details were sparse due to the case being under active investigation at the time. More information will be released Saturday morning, an APSO spokesman said.,
