Another 'zero-COVID' day for Avoyelles

There were no COVID cases in Avoyelles Parish in Friday's update from the Lousiana Department of Health. The parish's joy should probably be muted somewhat since there were only 56 tests in this report's sample, but zero is always good when talking about COVID.

This left Avoyelles' pandemic totals at 11,571 cases affecting 10,774 individuals with 797 reinfections and 206 fatalities.

In over two years of testing, there have been 162,349 tests administered in this parish of approximately 40,000. State officials said there are no duplicate positive results. The 797 reinfections are of people who had been infected with COVID earlier in the pandemic and tested positive for another infection 90 days or more after recovering from their initial case of COVID. Of those tests, 137,910 have been molecular lab tests and 24,439 have been rapid result antigen tests.
