Avoyelles has 8 positives out of 669 tests in Friday COVID update

Avoyelles Parish had 669 COVID tests with nine positives in the Friday update from the state health department. There was only one positive among 627 molecular lab tests -- the results the state uses to determine the parish's official weekly positive rate each Wednesday. There were eight positive results among 42 rapid result tests, which the state considers a "probable" indicator of COVID infection. There were no additional deaths in the Friday report.
The parish's 13-month cumulative totals are 4,027 cases (3,508/519) and 122 deaths (113/9). The state's totals as of Friday were 448,838 cases and 10,216 deaths.
The state does not release updates on Saturday and Sunday, so the next update will be at noon Monday.
