Avoyelles has first COVID death since March 18

For almost three weeks, Avoyelles Parish had watched daily COVID updates from the state that showed few, if any, new cases and no additional deaths. While there was only four new cases out of 409 tests in Tuesday's report from the Louisiana Department of Health for the parish, there was also one more death from the virus. Before today, the last COVID-related death was reported on March 18, when the death toll increased by two.

As of Tuesday, Avoyelles' pandemic totals were 4,013 cases (3,506 "confirmed" and 507 "probable") and 122 deaths (113/9). The state's one-year totals are 446,955 cases and 10,174 deaths.
