Avoyelles has net gain of seven new COVID cases in Wednesday report

Avoyelles Parish had 1,052 tests in Wednesday's COVID report with a net of seven new cases. There were nine positive lab tests, but the state subtracted two rapid result test cases from the parish's total. There were no additional deaths.

As of Wednesday's COVID update from the state health department, Avoyelles Parish's pandemic totals showed 4,128 total cases since March 2020. Of those, 3,628 were "confirmed" as COVID by molecular lab tests and 500 were diagnosed as "probable" for COVID using rapid result tests. There have been 123 deaths attributed to COVID-19, with 114 of those victims being confirmed by lab tests and nine who had been diagnosed as "probable" for COVID with rapid result tests.

The state's totals on Wednesday were 454,377 cases and 10,316 deaths.

The parish's official weekly positive rate was adjusted to 1.0 for April 1-7. It rose to 3.6 percent for April 8-15. The rate was 0.8 for March 25-31.
