Avoyelles' official COVID positive rate rises again, to 2.4%

Over the past two days, Avoyelles Parish recorded 14 new cases of COVID-19 and no additional COVID-related deaths.

The state health department reported 410 test results on Tuesday and Wednesday, with five positives out of 338 lab tests and nine positives in 72 rapid result tests. The translates into an overall two-day positive rate of 3.4 percent, a "confirmed" lab test positive rate of almost 1.5 percent and a "probable" rapid test rate of 12.5 percent. The state does not use rapid results in computing a parish's official weekly positive rate.

As had been feared, Avoyelles' official positive rate for April 22-28 rose to 2.4 percent. It was 1.8 percent for the period of April 15-21.

The parish's pandemic totals as of Wednesday were 4,197 cases (3,665 lab results, 532 rapid results) and 123 deaths (115 / 8). The state totals were 460,803 cases and 10,418 deaths.
