Avoyelles Thursday COVID report: six cases, one death

The Thursday COVID update for Avoyelles Parish reported six new cases and an additional COVID-related death. With 257 tests reviewed, this reflected a 2.3 percent positive rate.

The parish's pandemic totals as of Thursday were 6,941 cases and 173 deaths. The 18-month state totals on Thursday were 740,533 cases and 13,949 deaths.

With a population of approximately 40,000, the pandemic totals reflect that 17.25 percent of residents in Avoyelles have been diagnosed with COVID-19 at some point in the past 18 1/2 months and the death rate in the parish is almost 2.5 percent. The state pandemic totals reflect approximately 15.9 percent of Louisianians have been diagnosed with COVID with about 1.88 percent of infections being fatal.
