Avoyelles weekend COVID update: 1,282 tests, 31 cases, three deaths

The number of new cases per day over the past three days was an encouraging 10, but a rate of one additional death per day was a stark reminder of COVID-19's continuing impact on Avoyelles Parish, even as the latest wave appears to be receding.

Experts are saying the per-day rate of cases should be declining from here on out, based on expectations this wave will follow a two-month cycle observed throughout the 18-month pandemic.

In Monday's report, which included tests from Saturday, Sunday and Monday, there were 1,282 tests with 31 positive results. There were also three additional deaths.

As of Monday, the 18-month totals for Avoyelles were 6,872 cases and 167 deaths. Statewide there had been 728,831 cases and 13,473 deaths.
