Avoyelles weekend COVID update: seven cases in 462 tests

Avoyelles continues to show good numbers in its fight against COVID-19, with only seven new cases identified in 462 test results reviewed since Friday. This is an overall positive rate of 1.5 percent. However, the positive rate for molecular lab tests -- the results used to determine the parish's "official" positive rate -- was only 0.4 percent (two cases out of 409 tests). The positive rate for the quick result antigen test was 9.4 percent, five cases out of 53 tests.

There were no additional deaths in the Monday report.

As of Monday Avoyelles' 20-month totals for COVID were 7,377 cases with 181 deaths. The state's totals were 768,041 cases with 14,754 deaths.
