COVID numbers tick up in Thursday report

The Thursday COVID update for Avoyelles Parish had fewer tests and more cases, pushing the overall positive rate for that report to 5.88 percent. A welcome change was the absence of any additional COVID-related deaths in the parish since the Wednesday update.
Thursday's report reviewed 221 tests with 13 positive results. There were four new cases among 153 lab tests and nine cases in 68 rapid result tests.
As of Thursday, Avoyelles' 18-month totals for COVID were 6,893 cases and 170 deaths. The state totals were 733,522 cases and 13,702 deaths.
