Mid-week COVID update for Avoyelles: 4 cases, no deaths

Tuesday report: 5 cases, 2 deaths

Avoyelles Parish had only four new cases out of 191 cases in Wednesday's update from the Louisiana Department of Health.

It was an improvement in all indicators over Tuesday's report, which had only 102 tests with five new cases and two more COVID-related deaths.

As of Wednesday, the parish's pandemic totals were 7,020 cases with 177 deaths. Of those, 5,395 cases and 160 deaths were diagnosed with molecular lab tests while 1.715 cases and 17 fatalities were identified using rapid result antigen tests.

The parish's official weekly positive rate, which looks at only the lab test results, remained the same at 2.7 percent for the period of Sept. 30-Oct. 6. The official rate for Oct. 7-13 will be reported on Oct. 20.

In the Wednesday-to-Wednesday report this site has been conducting, there were 1,496 total tests with 34 positives and the two deaths that were in the Tuesday report. Prior to Tuesday, the parish had not suffered a pandemic death since two were reported on Oct. 1.
