Wednesday COVID update for Avoyelles: 41 new cases, two deaths

There 41 new cases of COVID in Avoyelles Parish on Wednesday -- 33 first-time victims and eight who were reinfected after having the virus earlier in the pandemic. There were two additional deaths in the Wednesday update for the parish released by the Louisiana Department of Health.
From one Wednesday to the next, Avoyelles Parish added 260 infections/reinfections and four death to its COVID pandemic totals.
As of Feb. 9, the parish had seen 10,616 individuals infected by COVID since March 2020. Of those, 764 suffered a reinfection — making the actual number of COVID cases in the parish over the past 22 month 11,380 — and 193 died.
The state totals as of Wednesday were 1.2 million cases with 16,066 deaths.
