Weekend COVID update for Avoyelles: 95 new victims, 8 reinfections, 1 death

The recent three-day update for Saturday, Sunday and Monday looked at 881 tests with 95 individuals testing positive for the first time. There were eight “reinfections” of people who had been infected at least 90 days ago who were infected again.
That keeps the parish in the triple-digit increase bracket for reports, even though optimists will divide the number by three to proclaim we have dropped below 40 new cases per day, even WITH reinfections counted as new cases.
In addition to the 95 individuals and overall 113 total new cases, Avoyelles Parish also added another death to the pandemic totals.
As of Monday, the 22-month totals were 10,234 individual victims and 187 deaths. Of those, 6,999 infections and 167 fatalities were identified with molecular lab tests and 3,235 cases with 20 deaths were diagnosed with rapid result tests.
There have been 693 reinfections in Avoyelles Parish. The LDH does not separate the reinfections by lab test and rapid result test.
The state totals on Monday were 1,170,212 cases and 15,674 deaths since March 2020. There were 10,082 new cases, 43 deaths and 1,246 reinfections in the Monday report. The state has identified 56,103 reinfections among the individual COVID victims.
