🚨 Breaking News Update: Arrest Made in Cottonport Park Threat Investigation

COTTONPORT, La. — October 10, 2025

The Cottonport Police Department has arrested a suspect following an investigation into threats made on social mediatoward the upcoming Family Fun Day at Sarah Williams Park and members of the Cottonport community.

After being alerted to the threatening Facebook posts, officers—alongside the Louisiana Probation and Parole Division—quickly identified and took the suspect into custody without incident.

Chief Earnest Anderson stated,

“We take any threat to our community seriously. The quick response and arrest in this case reflect our commitment to ensuring the safety of the citizens of Cottonport.”

The suspect, Keathon Washington (Black male, DOB: 11/17/1992), was arrested on October 10, 2025, and charged with Terrorizing (Louisiana Revised Statute 14:40.1). Washington was booked into the Avoyelles Parish Jail on a $100,000 bond and remains held on a Louisiana Probation and Parole hold.

Authorities remind the public that making threats—online or in person—is a serious criminal offense and will be fully investigated.
