Bunkie’s St. Anthony Fair!
One of Avoyelles Parish’s most anticipated spring traditions returns later this month as St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School prepares to celebrate its annual school fair, marking a special milestone year.
The St. Anthony School Fair will take place Saturday, April 25, bringing a full day of food, family activities and entertainment to the school grounds, followed by a fish and shrimp dinner fundraiser on Sunday, April 26. This year’s event carries added significance as the school celebrates 95 years of Catholic education in the Bunkie community.
Schedule of Events 📅
Festivities begin at 11 a.m. Saturday with an opening ceremony, followed by the official start of the fair at 11:30 a.m. From there, the campus will transform into a lively gathering place filled with games, music and the familiar sights and sounds that have made the fair a longtime favorite for families across Avoyelles Parish.
Visitors can expect a wide variety of attractions, including: - Food and drink booths - A sweet shop - Snow cones - Face painting - A bounce house - Train rides - Game booths
A petting zoo and pony rides will be offered from 12 noon to 3 p.m., while kids can also take part in the popular Princess Tea Party at 2:30 p.m.
Bingo will begin at 12 noon in the school cafeteria, with a special blackout round scheduled for 6 p.m. A Vigil Mass will be celebrated at 4 p.m. in the school gym, offering a moment of reflection during the day’s activities.
As the afternoon turns to evening, competition and entertainment take center stage. A cornhole tournament begins at 5 p.m., welcoming teams of all skill levels, while live music from Wicked Waters will headline a street dance from 7 to 10 p.m.
The fair will also feature both online and in-person auctions, giving attendees the opportunity to bid on a variety of items and experiences. Online bidding opens April 18, with all bidding closing at 8 p.m. on the day of the fair.
Sunday Fundraiser
The celebration continues Sunday, April 26, with the school’s annual fish and shrimp dinner fundraiser. Plates, priced at $12, will be available for pickup from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the school’s circle drive.
Organizers say the weekend is about more than just fun, it is a chance to bring the community together in support of the school while honoring nearly a century of faith, education and tradition in Bunkie.
With activities for all ages and a strong sense of community spirit, the St. Anthony School Fair once again promises to be a highlight of the spring season in Avoyelles Parish.
