Cajun Crossroads Festival Returns
One of Avoyelles Parish’s growing spring traditions is set to return as the 11th Annual Cajun Crossroads Festival takes over Ronald Mayeux Ballpark on Friday and Saturday, May 1-2.
Hosted by the Hessmer Sports Club, the two-day event will feature a full lineup of activities including a jambalaya cook-off, youth and adult T-ball tournaments, live music, fireworks and plenty of food and family-friendly fun.
One of the festival’s signature events, the jambalaya cook-off, will take place Saturday, May 2, with teams invited to compete for bragging rights.
Entry fee for cook-off teams is $60, and participants are encouraged to register in advance by contacting Brad or Kelley Juneau at 318-305-2770.
Also drawing strong interest is the festival’s co-ed T-ball tournament, which is open to both youth and adult teams. Divisions include:
- Ages 10-12
- Ages 13-15
- Ages 16 and up
Organizers note that players will compete in the division based on their age as of May 1.
Team formats are structured to keep play competitive and balanced, with:
- 10-12 teams consisting of six boys and six girls
- 13-15 teams featuring five boys and five girls
- The 16-and-up division made up of six boys and four girls.
Registration is now open for all divisions, and teams can sign up by texting Jessie Juneau at 337-347-4282 for additional information.
In addition to tournament play, festivalgoers can enjoy live music, food vendors and a fireworks show, creating a full weekend of entertainment at the ballpark.
Organizers say the Cajun Crossroads Festival continues to grow each year, bringing together families, athletes and community members for a weekend centered around local culture, recreation and fellowship.
With multiple events planned and participation already building, residents are encouraged to make plans to attend and take part in the festivities.
