Dedicated leader honored with 2026 Bunkie Community Development Corporation Award!
Lifelong resident Lucille Daniels has been named the recipient of the 2026 Bunkie Community Development Corporation Award, honoring her more than 50 years of continuous service to Avoyelles Parish.
The award was presented during the annual Women on Mission Service Program held at Christ Missionary Full Gospel Church in Marksville. In addition to receiving the honor, Daniels took the pulpit to deliver the spoken word
sermon for the morning service.
Michelle Reynolds, the 2025 award recipient, presented the plaque to Daniels, highlighting a multi-generational passing of the torch among local leaders.
Daniels has spent more than five decades advocating for community development, youth mentorship and civic ad- ministration. Her extensive leadership resume spans both secular and faith-based organizations across the region, including serving as president of the Bunkie Chamber of Commerce, secretary of the Bunkie Community Development Corporation, assistant secretary of the Avoyelles NAACP and secretary of First Union Baptist Church for more than 40 years.
Beyond her official administrative capacities, organizers praised Daniels for her extensive volunteer work and her ability to unite diverse groups of people. Her advocacy work has crossed racial, economic and social lines, leaving a lasting legacy that continues to impact multiple generations throughout Bunkie and the surrounding parish. Even in retirement, Daniels remains actively involved in organizing community initiatives and mentoring area youth.
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Bunkie Community Development Corporation LLC for presenting me with this beautiful plaque,” Daniels said.
“I am truly honored by this recognition and deeply appreciate your thoughtfulness and support. It is a privilege to be acknowledged by an organization that is dedicated to the growth and success of our community. Thank you for this meaningful honor and for all that you do to make a positive difference in Bunkie. I will cherish this plaque and the sentiment behind it for years to come.”
