Deville Man Cited for Deer Hunting Violations in LaSalle Parish! 🦌
Enforcement agents with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries cited a Deville man for alleged deer hunting violations in LaSalle Parish on Jan. 2.
Agents cited Ralston Nugent, 22, for:
- Taking deer during illegal hours
- Taking deer from a public road
According to LDWF, agents were patrolling around 11 p.m. when they observed a truck stopping multiple times on top of a levee. After stopping the vehicle, agents found a freshly harvested deer in the bed of the truck.
During the investigation, Nugent admitted to harvesting an antlerless deer earlier that night using a rifle on Diversion Canal Levee Road, located within the Dewey Wills Wildlife Management Area.
LDWF agents seized the rifle used in the incident and confiscated the deer, which was later donated to a local charity.
Taking a deer during illegal hours carries a fine of $900 to $950 and up to 120 days in jail, while taking deer from a public road carries a maximum fine of $350. Nugent will also be required to pay $400 in civil restitution for the replacement value of the deer.
