4th Annual “Big Poppa’s Black Pot Cook Off on the Bayou” & Fireworks display
The 4th Annual Big Poppa’s Black Pot Cook-Off on the Bayou will take place Saturday, Dec. 13, on the square behind the Cotton Queen on Main Street staring at 8 a.m. The popular event, now part of the Christmas on the Bayou celebration, honors the late Mr. Teddy Franklin and brings together some of the area’s best cooks for a day of friendly competition and community fun.
- The entry fee is $25, and participants must register and purchase permits at the Cottonport Town Hall by Dec. 8
- Electricity and water hook-ups will be available, but contestants are encouraged to bring generators.
- Contestants are allowed to begin cooking early, and all dishes must be ready for judging by 12 noon.
Judging will determine winners in two categories, with:
- 1st place receiving $50 and a trophy
- 2nd place receiving $25 and a trophy
- 3rd place receiving a trophy
Participants are allowed to sell extra food after judging.
The cook-off will wrap up at 5 p.m. ahead of the Cottonport Fireworks Display at 6 p.m. Security will be enforced to ensure a family-friendly atmosphere.
