🚧 Drainage Improvement Project Underway on LA 452 in Marksville!

Drainage work underway on LA 452 in Marksville

Construction is now underway on a drainage improvement project along LA 452, also known as South Preston Street, at its intersection with Caldwell Street in Marksville.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development began work on Feb. 18. The project includes:

• clearing and grubbing to remove vegetation
• installation of drainage structures
• milling to remove old asphalt
• pavement patching
• new asphalt paving

Work is expected to continue through June 2026, weather permitting.

Alternating lane closures are in place to allow construction to proceed safely and efficiently. While no detours are planned, motorists should expect possible delays in the area.

Sheriff David L. Dauzat and the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Department, along with DOTD, remind drivers to use caution when traveling through the construction zone. Motorists are urged to:

• watch for work crews and equipment
• reduce speed
• allow extra space between vehicles

Residents should also exercise care when driving, walking or biking near the active work site.
