Emergency Lane Closure Announced for LA 114 Bridge in Avoyelles Parish

AVOYELLES PARISH, La. — The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has issued an emergency alert regarding a temporary lane closure on LA 114 for bridge maintenance work.

The affected bridge crosses Belldeau Bayou and is located roughly three miles southeast of LA 1, near the Echo community.

According to officials, work began immediately on Monday, April 27, 2026, and is expected to last for one day. During this time, traffic will be reduced to a single lane. No detour has been set, but drivers should prepare for brief delays while passing through the area.

Motorists are urged to use caution when approaching the work zone, as crews and equipment will be present on-site. Officials stress the importance of slowing down and remaining alert to ensure the safety of both workers and drivers.
