Ex-Corrections Nurse Arrested in Major Contraband Case!

A former employee of the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office has been arrested following an investigation into illegal contraband at a local detention facility.

Sheriff David L. Dauzat announced the arrest of 56-year-old Tara Lynn Warren of Marksville, a former corrections Licensed Practical Nurse with the APSO.

According to officials, the APSO Criminal Investigations Unit (CIU) launched an investigation on April 22, at the DC-1 facility. Following what authorities described as a thorough investigation, Warren was arrested on April 29. Her employment with the sheriff’s office has since been terminated.

Warren has been charged with:

• Malfeasance in office
• Introduction of contraband into a penal institution

Both charges are felony offenses. She was booked into the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office jail with a bond set at $25,000 and was released the same day after posting bond.

Sheriff Dauzat said the investigation remains ongoing and additional arrests are possible.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
