Ford Recalls 412,000 Explorer SUVs!

Ford Motor Company is recalling more than 412,000 vehicles due to a suspension issue that could increase the risk of a crash

The recall includes approximately 412,774 Ford Explorer SUVs from model years 2017 through 2019, according to a report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration

Ford stated the issue was traced to a combination of parts first implemented in 2017 and later removed from production in 2019 The problem involves the bending and fracture of the rear toe link which can lead to a potential loss of steering control and increase the risk of a crash

According to the NHTSA report, possible warning signs include:

  • A clunking noise
  • Unusual handling
  • A misaligned rear wheel

Ford has received 26 reports of rear toe link fractures and is aware of two accidents potentially related to the issue involving vehicles striking a guardrail or other barrier The company reported it is not aware of any injuries tied to the problem

Customers may begin searching their vehicle identification numbers to determine if their vehicle is included in the recall Recall letters are scheduled to be mailed March 9 Authorized Ford dealers will replace the affected toe link with a newly designed part at no cost to owners
