Fox Theatre opens registration for first Little Foxes Summer Program

The Fox Theatre in Marksville is bringing a new opportunity for young performers to the stage this summer with its first Little Foxes Summer Program.

Registration is now open for Disney’s “101 Dalmatians KIDS,” a children’s theatre workshop designed for ages 4 to 7. The production will be directed by Kody Walker and will give young participants a chance to learn music, movement, stage presence and the basics of performing in front of an audience.

The workshop will be held at the Fox Theatre, located at 111 South Washington Street in Marksville. Rehearsals are scheduled for July 6-10 and July 13-17. Rehearsals will begin promptly at 9 a.m. each day and end by 11 a.m. Children must be picked up on time following rehearsals.

Performances are scheduled for Friday, July 17, at 6 p.m. and Saturday, July 18, at 2 p.m.

The cost is $175 per child. A reduced rate of $150 is available for the second and third child in the same family. Registration and payment must be received by Sunday, June 28. Late registration will be $200 and must be paid by July 5, if spots are still available. Enrollment is limited, and registration is nonrefundable.

Parents are asked to read all workshop requirements before registering. Each actor must provide his or her own costume for the production. Regular attendance is important for all participants, as absences may affect casting decisions and preparation for the final performances.

Parents must also assist backstage in some capacity during the production. Volunteer areas may include door monitor, dressing room chaperone, backstage monitoring, stage crew or other rotating duties.

A required parent information meeting will be held Sunday, June 28, at 2 p.m. at the Fox Theatre. Parents will receive scripts, music and other important information for their child at that meeting.
