The Avoyelles Parish Police Jury Litter Abatement Program President Mr. Darrell Wiley announced today that Keep Louisiana Beautiful has awarded the $6,760 grant to help create and execute a surveillance camera program that will aid in identifying lawbreakers and increasing litter citations.

"This grant award represents an active partnership with KLB that will help us purchase cameras, monitoring software and other equipment to bring our litter enforcement programs to the next level," Wiley said.

Made possible with funding from the State of Louisiana and the Office of the Lieutenant Governor, 10 Litter Enforcement Surveillance Camera Grants totaling $94,700 were awarded to eligible organizations in eight parishes including public entities with authority to enforce litter and illegal dumping laws within the Grantee’s jurisdiction.

"We are building partnerships with all enforcement agencies and prosecutors to increase litter enforcement," states Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser.
“Sixty-eight percent of Louisianians polled want more litter enforcement. We are working to make that happen for Louisiana."

Wiley added.

KLB’s Executive Director, Susan Russell explains that the Litter Enforcement Surveillance Camera Grant is designed to help create new litter camera programs and enhance existing ones with not only funds, but also education on equipment selection, set-up, operation and tracking.

"Enforcement of the litter laws is a key part to getting a better handle on Louisiana's litter problem. Gross littering negatively affects so many communities.
