Harvest Foods weekly inserts to END in local newspapers
For many years, Harvest Foods has been one of the strongest supporters of local journalism in Avoyelles Parish, partnering with Avoyelles Publishing to bring readers their weekly grocery inserts through the Avoyelles Journal, Marksville Weekly News and Bunkie Record.
Beginning this week, Harvest Foods will no longer include their printed inserts in the newspaper. Shoppers will still be able to view their weekly specials online and in stores, but the familiar paper insert that many residents have relied on for decades will no longer appear in print.
While this change comes just six weeks after Building a Better Avoyelles, a local nonprofit organization, acquired Avoyelles Publishing, it marks a new chapter for our local papers. Losing one of our biggest long-time advertisers is certainly a blow, but it also opens new opportunities for other local businesses to reach thousands of homes right here in Avoyelles Parish.
Our newspapers reach over 20,000 households and more than 50,000 readers each week, at less than a third of what it would cost to mail a flyer through the post office. Businesses interested in placing inserts or advertising through Avoyelles Publishing can contact our office at 318-253-5413 or email sales@avoyellestoday.com.
Harvest Foods remains a valued community partner and will continue supporting Avoyelles Publishing through advertising, sponsorships and other local initiatives. We thank them for their many years of partnership and continued dedication to our parish.
