Have you ever thanked City employees for their hard work??
Councilman defends longstanding turkey and ham donations to city employees
With reference to the comments made concerning the Mayor and the City of Marksville distributing turkeys to the City employees.
First of all, it is illegal for the City to use taxpayers money to give bonuses or gifts to City employees.
Secondly, the business owners who donated the money to purchase the turkeys did it NOT for recognition, BUT to show their appreciation to the City employees who keep their water flowing, their ditches clean, their grass mowed, etc.
I have been a city councilman for 15 years as has Mayor Lemoine been Mayor for 15 years.
We have distributed turkeys to City employees at Thanksgiving for 15 years, as well as distributing hams to City employees at Christmas for 15 years.
This is made possible by the business owners of Marksville who do NOT do this for recognition BUT only as a means of saying "THANK YOU to the hard-working City employees.
THIS is the reason the doners' names are NOT mentioned.
To you Ms. Marie C. Preston: Have you ever thanked City employees for their hard work??
Michael J Gremillion,
City Council District 2
