For many families, cancer is a journey that impacts not only the individual, but also caregivers, friends and entire communities.

The Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana will host its Third Annual Healing Tribal Strong 5K Walk/Run on Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Tunica-Biloxi Reservation in Marksville.

The event is designed as both a community gathering and a show of support for cancer survivors, patients, caregivers and families who have lost loved ones to the disease.

Runners and walkers of all ages and fitness levels are invited to participate.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Mary Bird Perkins Foundation and support cancer-related resources and services for patients and families across the region.

The event is also part of the Tribe's larger Healing Tribal Strong initiative, which focuses on the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of people affected by cancer through connection, wellness and support.

"Events like Healing Tribal Strong bring our community together in a powerful way, showing those affected by cancer that they are supported every step of the journey," Tunica-Biloxi Chairman Marshall Pierite said.

The 5K will take place at 150 Melacon Road in Marksville. Local vendors are expected to be on site with fresh produce, handmade goods and other items.

Registration and additional information are available at healingtribalstrong.com.
