Honoring a Hometown Hero: Milton Ducote Sr.
A lifetime of service recognized in 1990
Milton Ducote Sr. of Marksville was recognized as Veteran of the Year by the Mansura Disabled American Veterans Chapter 47 during its annual meeting held March 1, 1990.
A veteran of World War II, Ducote was honored for his longstanding commitment to serving fellow veterans and his community. At the time of the award, he had dedicated more than a decade of volunteer service at the Veterans Hospital, contributing eight hours each Tuesday for 11 years, totaling 4,576 hours.
In addition to his hospital work, Ducote remained active locally, volunteering at the D.A.V. in Mansura on Fridays and assisting with bingo events at both the VFW and the American Legion Hall in Marksville.
His recognition reflected not only his military service, but also his continued dedication to supporting veterans long after his time in uniform.
