Join the Martin Luther King Jr. Day March in Bunkie!

A Martin Luther King Jr. Day March will be held Sunday, Jan. 18, in Bunkie to honor the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. and to celebrate unity, service, and community involvement.

The march will begin at 3 p.m., with participants asked to line up at 2 p.m. behind Pizza Shack at the intersection of Ebony Street and North East Main Street.

Marching bands, dance teams, churches, civic groups, and community organizations are encouraged to participate and help make the event a meaningful show of community pride.

Organizers say the event is open to the public and aims to continue the message of hope and progress reflected in King’s “I Have a Dream” speech.

Guest speakers for the program will include David and Carlette Christmas.

Groups interested in joining the parade or seeking additional information can contact Kendricks at 318-264-8447.

The Martin Luther King Jr. Day March is expected to draw participants and spectators from across Avoyelles Parish and surrounding areas for an afternoon of remembrance and unity in downtown Bunkie.
