Key Dates for May Election in Avoyelles Parish- Don't Miss Out!

Voters in Avoyelles Parish are being reminded of important deadlines and early voting dates ahead of the May 16, 2026 election.

The election, which includes party primary and municipal races, will be held Saturday, May 16, with polls open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Residents must be registered by April 15 if registering in person, by mail or through the Office of Motor Vehicles. Those registering online through the GeauxVote system have until April 25.

Early voting will take place May 2 through May 9 at the Avoyelles Parish Courthouse in Marksville, with voting hours from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.

Officials note that early voting is not held on Sundays.

Voters are encouraged to take advantage of early voting to avoid long lines on Election Day and to review their sample ballots in advance.

A potential runoff election, if required, is scheduled for June 27, with early voting set for June 13 through June 20.

Officials also note that a holiday may be declared for the General Election if authorized by the governor.
