The General Election for Road District 2 in Avoyelles Parish takes place Saturday, Nov. 15, and parish officials are reminding residents of final details for Election Day.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. across Avoyelles Parish. Voters are encouraged to verify their polling locations, bring a valid photo ID, and allow extra time for check-in, especially during peak hours.
The deadline to request an absentee ballot has passed, but those who have already received absentee ballots must ensure they are returned to the Avoyelles Parish Registrar of Voters Office no later than 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14. Ballots arriving after that time cannot be counted.
Election officials remind voters that the Road District 2 proposition is a renewal of an existing 10-year property tax that funds road and drainage improvements within the district. The current 30-mill tax is set to expire in Dec. 2026, and if approved, it will renew at a reduced rate of 20 mills beginning in 2027.
Voters can find sample ballots, verify registration status, and check polling locations by visiting the Louisiana Voter Portal at www.GeauxVote.com or through the Louisiana Secretary of Stateβs website at www.sos.la.gov.
For additional assistance, contact the Avoyelles Parish Registrar of Voters Office at (318) 253-7129.
