Louisiana OMV Launches New Official Website!
The Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles announced this week that its official website has transitioned to a new address, www.expresslane.la.gov, replacing the previous .org domain.
State officials say the change strengthens cybersecurity protections, reinforces the agency’s official government status and helps residents more easily find trusted online services.
The .gov domain is reserved exclusively for verified government entities and is administered by the federal government. By adopting the new domain, the OMV aims to provide stronger protection against phishing attempts and fraudulent websites that may attempt to imitate official government services.
“This transition underscores our commitment to transparency, security and public service,” said OMV Commissioner Keith E. Neal. “A .gov domain clearly signals to residents that they are interacting with an official government website they can trust and helps them distinguish legitimate OMV services from fraudulent websites.”
Officials said the new domain is also expected to improve online search visibility, making it easier for residents to locate official OMV resources and services.
The website’s content and services remain unchanged, and visitors who access the former .org address will automatically be redirected to the new .gov site.
Through www.expresslane.la.gov, Louisiana residents can complete a variety of common motor vehicle transactions online without visiting a local OMV office. The site offers services 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Available online services include:
- driver’s license and identification card renewal
- duplicate licenses and IDs
- driver’s license status checks
- vehicle registration renewal
- duplicate vehicle registration
- canceling license plates
- filing a notice of vehicle transfer
