Louisiana Operation Game Thief Awards $6,100 to Informants for Wildlife Violation Tips

The Louisiana Operation Game Thief (LOGT) Board of Directors held its quarterly meeting in Mansura, where members reviewed 15 cases and approved $6,100 in rewards to informants whose tips led to 34 subjects apprehendedand 134 citations issued.

The cases reviewed involved a range of violations, including those related to deer, migratory game birds, alligators, turkeys, small game, and commercial fishing.

Founded in 1984, LOGT is a crime-stopper program dedicated to conserving Louisiana’s natural resources. The organization works closely with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) Enforcement Divisionand Louisiana citizens to help identify and stop illegal hunting, fishing, and other wildlife-related offenses.

“The partnership between LDWF agents and the public plays a critical role in protecting our state’s wildlife,” a LOGT spokesperson said. “These rewards recognize the valuable assistance citizens provide in holding violators accountable.”

Anyone with information about a wildlife violation can report it confidentially and anonymously through the 24-hour Operation Game Thief hotline at 1-800-442-2511.
If the tip leads to an arrest or a citation, the informant could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
