Love the Boot Week 2026 Surpasses 1,000 Events Across Louisiana

Love the Boot Week 2026 surpasses 1,000 events across Louisiana
Multiple cleanup events planned across Avoyelles Parish Avoyelles Parish residents and schools are being encouraged to take part in Love the Boot Week, Louisiana’s largest litter cleanup and beautification effort, set for April 18–26 as part of Earth Month.
Organized by Keep Louisiana Beautiful and supported by Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser, the statewide initiative has already surpassed 1,000 registered events across all 64 parishes, highlighting growing participation and community pride throughout Louisiana.
The annual effort invites students, families and volunteers to help clean up litter, improve public spaces and promote environmental responsibility. This year’s campaign also ties into the celebration of America’s 250th birthday, with participants encouraged to collect at least 250 pieces of litter.
Schools across Louisiana are urged to get involved through campus cleanups, tree planting, gardening projects and environmental lessons. Students can also participate in poster contests promoting litter prevention, while free educational resources and cleanup supplies are available through local libraries as part of the “Get Down & Clean Up” program.
In addition to school participation, several cleanup and beautification events are already scheduled across Avoyelles Parish:
*Bayou Des Glaises Cleanup, organized by the Avoyelles Parish Litter Abatement Program, is set for April 18 at 9 a.m. at 4475 Highway 451 in Moreauville.
*Simmesport Spruce Up, hosted by RISE, will be held April 18 at 8 a.m. at 423 Mission Drive in Simmesport.
*Spring Cleaning event hosted by the Town of Simmesport will take place April 18 at 9 a.m. at 372 Mission Drive in Simmesport.
*“Let Avoyelles Shine,” organized by the Office of Jacob Coco, Avoyelles Parish Police Juror District 9, is scheduled for April 18 at 8 a.m. at 460 Murphy Lacour Road in Simmesport.
*Moreauville Garden Club Community Cleanup will take place April 20 at 9 a.m. at 396 Pinks Lane in Mansura.
*AGC Grounds Beautification at Abundant Grace Church is scheduled for April 25 at 9 a.m. at 493 Barney Rush Road in Deville.
Organizers say the effort is about more than just picking up litter. It aims to build long-term awareness, encourage responsibility and inspire communities, especially younger generations—to take pride in where they live.
Last year’s Love the Boot Week brought together nearly 27,000 volunteers statewide, removing more than 500 tons of litter and completing hundreds of beautification projects. An even greater impact is expected this year.
Residents and groups can still register their own cleanup events or volunteer for existing ones by visiting LoveTheBoot.org. For more information or to register a cleanup or school activity, visit www.lovetheboot.org.
