MARK JEANSONNE ANNOUNCES FOR JUDGE, 12TH JDC Division A

MARK JEANSONNE ANNOUNCES FOR JUDGE, 12TH JDC DIV. A

Paid for by the committee to elect Mark Jeansonne.

Jeansonne announces candidacy for 12th JDC Division A Judge To the residents of Avoyelles Parish, I humbly ask for your vote to elect me Judge of the 12th JDC, Division A, on Nov. 3, 2026.

I was born and raised in Hessmer. I attended Hessmer High School, then LSUA, LSU and finally Loyola Law School in New Orleans. I paid my own way through college, taking any job I could find along the way, including oil field labor, digging potatoes, delivery driving and construction work. You name it. It was not easy.
By the time I graduated from law school, I had lost nearly 30 pounds off my body weight. I simply could not afford constant meals. But I learned early that nothing should stand in anyone’s way of achieving their goals. Hard work, a solid work ethic and never giving up are important. I am proud that I achieved my goals the hard way.

I was previously elected as your District Court Judge for Avoyelles Parish in Division A from 2003 through 2014. I enjoyed serving and retired in 2014 to return to the practice of law. God willing, I would like to return to the bench and once again serve my parish residents.

I also served as Mayor of Hessmer from 1993 through 2002, then again from 2020 through 2024. I was previously the president of the Avoyelles Parish Bar Association, as well as magistrate, or town judge, for Hessmer, Cottonport, Mansura and Simmesport. I am currently general counsel and magistrate for the Village of Hessmer. I also previously served as special prosecutor for the City of Marksville.

I have always served my positions with honor, civility and compassion, with the goal of justice in mind. I recognize that people who are thrust into court, whether civil or criminal court, are under tremendous stress. Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.
I am married to Yanan Wang, and I am blessed to have three children, Sophie, Sam and Sutton. I have cherished raising three children. I am extremely pro-life and believe that we live for our children.

I have and will continue to publicize my record and my future goals as your judge in the newspaper and on a Facebook page. I promise to maintain a clean campaign. All judicial candidates must exhibit a high level of decorum and civility that you should expect. I will not partake in or respond to campaign attacks. You deserve better. I will maintain honor and justice in our Avoyelles Courthouse.
I invite you to take part in my campaign. Please feel free to contact me at jeansonnelaw@yahoo.com or 318-563-9000. I humbly ask you to once again elect me as Judge of the 12th JDC, Division A, on Nov. 3, 2026.
