Named State Finalist for Principal of the Year: BHS Principal Chuck Normand

Avoyelles Parish Schools celebrated Bunkie Magnet High School Principal Chuck Normand as a Louisiana Principal of the Year state finalist during the annual Cecil J. Picard Educator Excellence Gala in New Orleans.

The Cecil J. Picard Educator Excellence Gala is one of Louisiana’s premier events honoring outstanding educators from across the state. Hosted annually by the Louisiana Department of Education and Dream Teachers, the gala recognizes educators whose leadership, dedication and commitment have made a lasting impact on students, schools and their communities.

Normand was named one of only three finalists for Louisiana High School Principal of the Year after first being selected as the Avoyelles Parish Principal of the Year.

Throughout his career, Normand has been recognized for fostering a positive school culture, supporting student achievement and building meaningful relationships with students, staff, families and the community.

“We are incredibly proud of Chuck and this well-deserved recognition,” Superintendent Karen Tutor said. “His leadership at Bunkie Magnet High School reflects the values we strive to instill throughout Avoyelles Parish Schools. He leads with integrity, puts students first, and is committed to helping every child succeed. We are honored to have him representing our district at the state level.”

Normand’s leadership embodies the district’s mission of preparing students for successful futures by providing opportunities to achieve academic excellence, applaud character and success, and empower students to accomplish extraordinary things.

His commitment to continuous improvement has helped create an environment where both students and educators are encouraged to grow and excel.

While only one principal is ultimately selected as Louisiana Principal of the Year, being named one of the state’s finalists is among the highest honors a school leader can receive. The recognition celebrates exceptional leadership and the positive impact principals have on the success of their schools and communities.
