New Plaucheville fire station taking shape!

Modern $526,000 facility will add third truck bay and larger training space

Construction is underway on a new home for the Plaucheville Volunteer Fire Department, a project town officials say will provide much-needed space for equipment, training and department operations.

The new station is being built at 159 Hwy. 1181, between the Plaucheville Community Center and Plaucheville Elementary School. Mayor Terryl St. Romain said the need for the new facility was driven largely by the department’s need for additional room for its fire trucks.

The project is estimated at $526,000 and is being funded primarily through grant money, with the Town of Plaucheville contributing $26,000.

The new building will include a third apparatus bay as well as a larger room that can be used for firefighter training and department meetings.

The third bay will provide a dedicated space for the department’s main pumper, giving firefighters additional room to house and organize equipment.

The Plaucheville Volunteer Fire Department currently has 29 volunteer firefighters serving the community.

According to St. Romain, the department responds most frequently to medical calls, along with fires and a smaller number of automobile accidents.

The additional room offered by the new station will allow the department to better accommodate its equipment while providing firefighters with more space for training and meetings.

Weather permitting, construction is expected to be completed by Feb. 23, 2027. An opening date has not yet been set, but St. Romain said a ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held once the facility is ready.

“Our community should be proud of the new modern building,” St. Romain said.
