Hannah Desselle pleads guilty to manslaughter of Kasey Bigum

Hannah Desselle, facing trial next week for the murder of Kasey Bigum, pled guilty to manslaughter Thursday.

She waived her right to appeal and was sentenced to 24 years in prison.

"The family is well-pleased with the result and that everything is finally over," District Attorney Charles Riddle said.

Bigum was killed in May 2019. Her son, Tristin James, pled guilty in February to manslaughter and was sentenced to the maximum of 40 years in prison. Investigators said James killed his mother with a baseball bat during an argument in her Fifth Ward home. He and Desselle then dumped the victim's body on the S&B Cutoff Road in the rural Big Bend area.
