Burn ban in effect for Avoyelles

The Avoyelles Police Jury and Office of Emergency Preparedness announced a burn ban in effect for Avoyelles Parish.
According to a release by Police Jury President Kirby Roy, the burn ban is in place because of drought conditions and restricts all outdoor burning.
"The potential of uncontrolled fire and unpredictable changes from embers which carry significant distances creating danger of fires in areas beyond where the fire starts," the notice read.
