Charles Jones to be inducted into Louisiana Justice Hall of Fame

Avoyelles Parish Police Juror Charles Jones will be inducted into the Louisiana Justice Hall of Fame on Aug. 6.

Jones has a long career in public service -- retiring as U.S. Army colonel and again in a second career as an Avoyelles Parish public school system teacher and principal.

He currently serves on the Avoyelles Parish Police Jury and was honored in May 2020 as the Avoyellean of the Year for 2019. The honor for 2020 broke tradition and was awarded to all "essential workers" in the fight against COVID-19 during the pandemic.

Others being inducted with Jones this year include Pineville Mayor Clarence Fields, former Gov. Kathleen Blanco and her family from Lafayette, retired East Baton Rouge Constable Reginald Royce Brown Sr., Louisiana Law Enforcement Commission Director Jim Craft, retired West Feliciana Parish Sheriff J. Austin Daniel, Baton Rouge civil rights attorney Johnnie Anderson Jones Jr., retired 21st Judicial District Judge Robert H. Morrison III of Livingston Parish, Ouachita Parish Sheriff Jay Russell,

The Justice Hall of Fame is housed in the Louisiana State Penitentiary Museum in Angola.

The public is encouraged to attend the events honoring this year's "heroes of justice" on Aug. 6. For ticket information, call the museum at 225-655-2592 or email Rolanda Robinson at rolandarobinson@angolamuseum.org.
