Hessmer water notice

HESSMER WATER CUSTOMERS:

Statement from Mayor Mark Jeansonne: 'What we need, what Avoyelles Parish needs, is a GPR machine ('ground penetrating radar'). It looks like a push lawnmower that you push around over proposed digging sites. But the machines are very expensive, $20,000.! Even the City of Alexandria doesn't have that. I'm going to ask our Representative Daryl Deshotel to try to help the parish buy one for all municipalities to use.'

Hessmer water customers:
1) Due to the water line breaks today, all water customers are under the standard boil advisory until further notice.
2) Due to high levels of contaminants and debris in the water this evening, our Water Dept. is going to flush certain areas, so you may notice reduced pressure for the next few hours.

**UPDATE**
We are sorry for water interruption today. The subcontractor for Swyft (Shade LHS Construction) has hit our water line in two areas today. We have had to shut off everyone's water to make repairs. I and a Councilmember met with an official from Shade LHS today. They have agreed to cease all digging today; Shade LHS has also agreed to review lines/markings before digging. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT WE CAN NOT STOP PROGRESS, AND PROGRESS OFTEN COMES WITH MISHAPS. PLEASE ALSO KEEP IN MIND that the infrastructure below ground has become more crowded/ congested over time, more pipelines, more wiring, etc. Companies that dig, usually will simply try to use the State right-of-way rather than attempt to intrude further into your yard, HOWEVER THAT IS ALSO THE MOST JAMMED AREA WITH UTILITIES.
Please remain patient while we repair the lines and I will update you ASAP.

UPDATE: ALL HESSMER WATER CUSTOMERS WILL BE OUT OF WATER DUE TO CONTRACTORS HITTING 2 MAJOR LINES ON EACH END OF TOWN. MAYOR JEANSONE AND COUNCIL HAVE AN EMERGERCY MEETING WITH CONTRACTORS TO DISCUSS THESE PROBLEMS. PLEASE BE PATIENT !
