Illegal Possession of Machine Gun Leads to Federal Prison for Shreveport Man

United States Attorney Brandon B. Brown announced that
Juhntrayvious J. White, 20, of Shreveport, was sentenced today for illegally possessing a
machine gun. United States District Judge Donald E. Walter sentenced White to 60 months
in prison, followed by 3 years of supervised release.
According to information presented in court, on September 9, 2022, a Shreveport
Police Department officer stopped White for a traffic violation on Hearne Avenue. As the
officer approached the vehicle, White took off at a high rate of speed, reaching a speed of over
100 miles per hour in a 40 mile per hour zone. The car stopped and White fled from the scene
on foot and escaped. Officers found an Anderson Arms AM-15 equipped with an auto sear
and White’s cell phone in the vehicle. White was later apprehended by law enforcement
officers and admitted that he obtained the auto sear and converted the Anderson Arms AM-
15 into a machine gun.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and
Explosives and Shreveport Police Department and prosecuted by First Assistant United States
Attorney Alexander C. Van Hook.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program bringing together
all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and
make our neighborhoods safer for everyone. PSN is part of the Department’s renewed focus
on targeting violent criminals, directing all U.S. Attorney’s Offices to work in partnership
with federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement and the local community to develop
effective, locally based strategies to reduce violent crime. To learn more about Project Safe
Neighborhoods, go to www.justice.gov/psn.
