The Mansura Chamber of Commerce, Town of Mansura, and the Mansura Police Department are once again excited to bring the Cochon De Lait Festival to Mansura.
This year’s festival is set to begin Friday, May 10 kicking off at 5 p.m. with the hanging of the pigs. Live entertainment will follow at 7 p.m. with the sounds of Hotline. Bring your dancing shoes. Food vendors will be set up as well with a lil’ taste of different cuisines.
On Saturday, May 11, the day kicks off with the 5K/1 Mile Run. Registration is at 7 a.m. and the run starts at 8 a.m. The Cochon de Lait Parade rolls at 10:30 a.m. and this year the grand marshals are... back-to-back Avoyelles Public Charter School Vikings- LHSAA Division V Boys Basketball State Champions and the Marksville High School Boys Basketball team- LHSAA Non-Select Division III State Champions. These two teams are super excited to be part of the festival.
DJ Scott Dufour will emcee the event once more, together with a live remote from 97.7 The Cajun. The festival kicks off with entertainment by Lauren Cabrera, “The Amazing Bacon.” You won’t want to miss her.
Arts and crafts vendors will be located on the Mansura walking track and this year, Alec Jeansonne, owner and instructor of Gracie United Avoyelles (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) will be demonstrating self defense moves to the public.
In addition to the Kids’ Hog Calling, Watermelon Eating and Water Balloon Toss, a Hula Hoop Contest has been and there will be a designated “Kid Zone” area.
Also added is a Cornhole Tournament, which should be interesting. The Cracklin’ Cookoff Contest will take place again this year with delicious cracklins to purchase. Zach St. Romain with LA1 Food Co. is sponsoring the Boudin Eating Contest and will be on site for boudin sales as well. Make sure to go try out his product!
Let’s not forget the world-renown Greasy Pig Contest. Big thanks to Ronnie Durand helping out again this year with those lil’ piggys!
At 5 p.m., Mason Trail and Zydeco Rhythm takes the main stage bringing zydeco sounds that will get your feet moving. At 7 p.m, Brandon Ledet and Creole Touch perform as the main attraction also bringing that zydeco sound. It’s their first time to the Cochon De Lait Festival and to Mansura.
So if you find yourself with nothing to do, come to Mansura on May 10 and 11 to enjoy all the fun offered.
