Man charged with attempted 2nd-degree murder after Bunkie shooting

A man has been arrested on an attempted second-degree murder charge following a shooting incident in Bunkie.

On February 17, authorities received a call that a suspect, later identified as Devin Gaines, had opened fire on a vehicle at 107 Orange Street. The suspect shot his weapon 12 times, impacting both the vehicle and a nearby home. Nobody has harmed from the gunfire. The owner of the vehicle then contacted the police.

During their investigation, authorities managed to obtain security video from a local business that led to them securing an arrest warrant for Gaines on the charge of attempted second-degree murder.

The United States Marshal Service was able to apprehend Gaines somewhere in the Opelousas area. They also located the firearm they believe he used in the shooting.

Gaines was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail and will be transferred to the Avoyelles Parish Jail where he will be held on a $450,000 bond.
