A Note from the Desk of Congresswoman Julia Letlow

As 2021 comes to an end, I am filled with immense pride for all that we have accomplished and the results that we have been able to deliver for the Fifth District. However, I know that our work is just getting started and my team and I look forward to continuing our advocacy for our communities, our region, and our state in 2022.

Over the last 8 months I have:

Cosponsored over 90 bills to protect the unborn, defend our Second Amendment rights, and minimize federal government overreach.

Sent nearly 90 letters to the Administration and congressional leadership demanding action on the challenges our country faces.

Spearheaded H.R. 6056, the Parents Bill of Rights Act, which guarantees that parents are the primary stakeholder in their children’s education. This bill will give parents a seat at the table and foster meaningful conversations between families and educators throughout the learning process.

Led efforts to eliminate the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO) that allows Social Security to unfairly penalize our hard-working public servants such as teachers, firefighters, and police officers.

Joined my Republican colleagues to block the Administration’s policy to give mass amnesty to illegal immigrants and offer cash incentives to undocumented migrants.

Co-sponsored legislation that will overturn President Biden’s unconstitutional vaccine mandates.

Supported our military and their families by helping pass a pay raise for our troops, and major investments in Louisiana bases such as Fort Polk and Barksdale.

Supported our nation’s strongest ally, Israel, and demanded that the State Department keep the American embassy in Jerusalem.

Opposed the majority’s reckless spending policies in the Build Back Better Act, which would create nearly 150 new government programs that would grow government and our national debt at an astonishing and unprecedented pace.

Visited all 24 parishes in the Fifth District, meeting with community leaders and constituents listening to their concerns and priorities.
Introduced multiple bills that directly address the needs in the Fifth District and responded to over 5,000 constituent letters and emails.

I am accessible to my constituents through avenues such as this newsletter, my website, and social media accounts. Please know that our office is always open to your comments, thoughts, and feedback. We are here to serve you.

Sincerely,
Julia Letlow
Member of Congress
